Women and car repair, even the smallest of them, well, let us just say that most of the time, they do not see eye-to-eye. Not that I have anything against women, no, but I know that car repair could be easier for them, if they approached it from the perspective of “I can hack this, if I can do makeup, I can hack this just as well.”

Women are smart, but they just do not hack things to do with car. Therefore, the next oil change is always a fret for many. A witty mechanic could just try to swindle them into buying a new filter, even when the car doesn’t need a new one. And what about tire alignment, spark plugs and so on?

Its sounds funny when someone compares car repairing to applying make-up but somehow it makes sense and it also makes women look at car repair from a different perspective. Most women apply makeup on a daily basis, which is totally acceptable. Unfortunately, the same women look at car repairing as a complicated task, which requires a lot of energy, and they think that only professional mechanics can be entrusted with the job.

A woman cannot do all car repair jobs but there are those small repairs that a woman can take care of, for example, wheel changing. All she needs is to have the little know-how on how to handle the problem and some few basic tools and she will be ready to go. Mechanics take advantage (of women who take their cars for repair and charge them more than men who take their car with the same problem.

A woman should know these basic things before she starts to repair a car

For starters, one should get a car repair manual. You can purchase it from a car spare part shop. You can also go online and look for information on things like simple car repair hacks you can do to save money which start with repairing a cracked dashboard to popping minor dents and making good scratches.

Be careful while approaching the problem. After you have identified the car problem and you are sure you can fix it, the next step is to make sure you have the required tools or purchase a new set if you do not have one. Know the work of every tool, just as well as you know your makeup kit and tools, to avoid using them wrongly which can cause more harm than good. Some of the basic tools are; a box wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers of different sizes, sand paper and so on.

Before you start your activity there are some precautions you should be aware of:

• Ensure that every time you start fixing your car, the battery is always switched off to avoid electrocution.
• If you are changing the wheel, hoist your car with a jack or have it on the repair ramp before going under the car.
• If the repair is too big, do not do it, leave it for the garage shop

In the process of repairing your car, you will make a few mistakes, since this is probably the first time to repair the car. This being a simple repair, a mistake is not a matter of life and death, just fix it.
