Would You Buy the Toyota Camry?

  • by Patrick Gioko
  • October 15, 2014

Since 1982, this Japanese car has been sold globally. It has been a noticeable success especially in the US where it has been ranked at number one for the best selling compact passenger cars. While it came in to the market as a front wheel drive replacement for the Corona which had somehow disappointed, it later on became the best car in the US market after a few modifications. Later on, they introduced the all wheel drive which has driven the buyers crazy and has never disappointed. It seems Camry just gets better with time, with the 2015 edition set to make heads turn everywhere.

But what is so exciting about today’s Camry? First, there is the reshaped body panels that spell aggression from every angle. The front mesh grill is very exciting. It is sporty and aggressive looking and it takes up most of the front part. While the looks of the 2014 Camry look very sleek on the outside, how does it perform?

Going by the US model of the Camry for the timeline 2011 to the present, there are various engine sizes to choose from. For example, there is the 4 cylinder 2.5 liter engine that is rated at 178 hp. Then there is the 268 HP 3.5 liter V6 and the 4 cylinder 2.5 liter hybrid model. All of these models come with electro hydraulic power steering capability. With several trim levels for buyers to choose from, you can choose whatever tickles your fancy from the L, SE, SE V6, LE, XLE, Hybrid LE and XLE, Hybrid SE model levels. Note that there are no manuals in all these trims, only automatic transmissions.

What is in the interior?

  • Comes with front bucket seats, very comfortable and 60/40 split seats for the rear, folding
  • Windows and doors are powered
  • Has cruise control
  • Air conditioning
  • IPod/USB compatible stereo and has Bluetooth connectivity
  • Leather upholstery is heated, power seats available too

What about the safety features?

  • Antilock disc brakes – all of them
  • Stability system – electronic
  • Blind spot warning system
  • Front, rear, side impact airbags, knee (front) airbags. In total, there are 10 airbags.

These are just a few of the features that you will find in the Toyota Camry. There are more, for example, the spacious trunk/boot and the Toyota Entune entertainment system. However, all these combined are nothing compared to what is coming in the 2015 edition of the Camry.

Since the first Camry was released into the market in 1983, there has been many modifications, and the car has simply become better with time. For example, since 2011, the models have attained a sleeker look and lost the slab look that the Camry was known for, but improvement has not been in the aesthetics only as we have seen in the aforementioned features.

Can you buy a used Camry and enjoy all the features that we have mentioned here? Of course, you can buy one on Be Forward and it will be delivered to your port of entry where you can collect it. Unless you drive this car, you will never really know why it is a favorite for the US market.
